In fact, in several Hindu traditions, the flame of the diya itself is invoked as the deity, and most ritualistic procedures are performed to it.

शुभं करोति कल्याणम् आरोग्यं धनसंपदः।
शत्रुबुद्धिविनाशाय दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते॥
Śubhaṃ Karoti Kalyāṇam Ārogyaṃ Dhana-Sampadaḥ।
Śatru-Buddhi-Vināśāya Dīpa-Jyotir Namo’stute॥
Meaning: Salutations to the sacred light of the diya, which brings auspiciousness and well-being, bestows good health, money and wealth in abundance.
The one which destroys the hostility of inner enemies, O the sacred light of the lamp (Deepa), I bow to you.
Many traditional families, particularly those following the Vaishnava tradition, recite the Shubham Karoti Kalyanam shloka with another one while lighting the diya. Especially during the Sandhya deepam, and often replace the closing line with Sandhya deepam namostute instead of Dipajyothi Namostute.
दीपज्योतिः परब्रह्म दीपज्योतिर्जनार्दनः।
दीपो हरतु मे पापं दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते॥

Meaning: The light of the Diya is the Supreme Being; it is the Lord Janardhana itself (the sustainer of the creation). May that Sacred lamp destroy all my sins. To that divine light of the Diya, I offer my salutations.
