Maha Sudarshana Mantra – The shield of Divine Energy

The Maha Sudarshana Mantra dedicated to Lord Sudarshana is a powerful sacred chant suitable for both sadhana and regular worship.

This mantra is recited to seek divine protection of the discus in order to remove fears, promote healing, and alleviate diseases.  Devotees also perform Japa for the blessings of Sudarshana, ensuring they remain victorious at all times and have their wishes fulfilled.

Unlike the other Sudarshana Mantras, this mantra is filled with the Bijas (seed syllables) and protective commands.

By chanting the Maha Sudarshana Mantra with pure devotion, one can invoke the energy of the Sudarshana Chakra and receive divine blessings.

During daily puja, devotees can chant the Sudarshana Gayatri Mantra or the Maala Mantra along with this Maha Mantra for faster results.

Meaning of the Mantra

Salutations to Lord Krishna, Govinda, the beloved of the Gopis, the supreme being and the Supreme soul. May the Bijas Shreem, Hrim, and Klim yield their powers of prosperity, energy and attraction on me.

Destroy and nullify all the unknown karmas, mantras, yantras, tantras, medicines (used by wicked), sorcery, supernatural and physical handheld weapons, releasing and liberating me from untimely death.

My salutations to the great Lord Sudarshana, present in a greater form

I invoke the Bijas – Prim, Rim, and Rum that embody the Lord and represent the Shakti, divine energy, and fire.

I invoke the one surrounded by fire, who can shake all the directions and cause it to happen by his mighty power. May that lord destroy the negative forces and protect me. O the supreme brahman, the supreme light, accept my offerings.

I bow to lord Maha Sudarshana, the greater form, as well as Lord Sudarshana in his form.

O the great discus (Maha chakraya), the one with blazing greatly like the sun, O the pacifier of all the diseases, release me from the karmic connections.

From the feet to the head, alignments caused by vata, pitta, and slesma, as well as the ones arising from disturbance of bodily elements, and many such disordered alignments, are nullified and destroyed and are pacified.

Japa Sankhya for Sadhana

For mastering this mantra, the mantra shastras mention the Japa Sankhya count as 1 lakh twenty-five thousand.

However, for regular puja worship, devotees can chant 11, 16, or 21 times. The best way is to recite the Maha Sudarshana Mantra by understanding its meaning.
