One of the main ways to invoke Goddess Kamakshi’s grace is by reciting the Kamakshi Mantra. Devi Kamakshi of Kanchipuram is renowned for her compassion and wish-fulfilling nature, and her worship is deeply rooted in the Sri Vidya tradition.
There are several mantras for worshipping the Goddess, among which the Kamakshi Moola Mantra and the Kamakshi Gayatri stand out for their impact on the practitioner.
Chanting the Kamakshi Mantra not only brings prosperity and wealth, but also inner peace, spiritual awakening, and fulfilment of desires. As the Japa intensifies, the power of the mantra awakens the inner shakti and connects directly to Mother Kamakshi.

Instructions for Moola Mantra recitation and Japa Sankhaya
Reciting the Moola mantra should be done following the Moola mantra instructions, which include reciting Sankalpa, Viniyoga, Nyasas, Dhyana, Pancha puja, and Mantra recitation.
Furthermore, by continuing with Nyasa, Pancha Puja, Samaprpanam, and later with Purascharana.
Japa Sankhya is 1 Lakh; however, one can also do Japa by reciting the above mantras 108 times until the fulfilment of desires.
Hello,
In the instructions for Moola Manthra recitation, I see mention about , Viniyoga, Nyasas, Dhyana, Pancha puja. What are these? Can you elaborate in simple words for me to understand and follow it. Are these compulsory?
Warm regards,
Sindhuja Martha.
Hi Sindhuja,
Ok, let me explain these simply. The general perception of mantras is that Om Kamakshyai Namaha (used as an example) is itself an entire mantra. But it is actually just the core. There are several other parts of that mantra, and, in fact, for any other Mantra. They are Viniyigaha part that contain mantra saptangas that explain the rishi, devata, chandas, and similar details, along with the stated purpose called viniyoga.
Later comes the Nyasa part, where the practitioner places the mantra in designated parts of the body by touching in a ritualistic way (for your understanding like mudras). Another part is Dhyana, in which the sadhaka visualises the deity by reciting a shloka.
Like that, there are several things like Digbandha, Homa, Marjana, Tarpana and so on… that a practitioner must follow for Mantra siddhi.
If you are worshipping the deity using a mantra, you can even worship by reciting the core mantra like how everyone recites om namah sivaya daily. However, the results vary and take a long time to be fruitful, but be known that pure devotion can do make miracles.
For Mantrasiddhi its good to opt seeking advice from a real and eligible guru. If not found, you can get the procedures from Mantra scriptures and followit by visualizing Lord Shiva as your Guru placing the mantra written on a palm leaf or paper infront of a Linga and requesting for Lords acceptance.
Hope this helps. Thank you
Brilliant Answer. Very enlightening. This is a much needed service for the Hindu Population who are not born into families that are formally ordained with mantras.
Thank you
